Alteration of Designation to Omarunui Landfill for the Construction & Operation of Area B

Hastings District Council has received a notice of requirement from the Hastings District Council for an alteration of designation to the Omarunui Regional Landfill (D123) to provide for the construction and operation of ‘Area B’ for waste disposal. No change is proposed to the boundaries of the designation, only to the area for waste placement within the designation and the conditions applying to the designation for the use of Area B.

The subject site is zoned Rural in the Hastings District Plan. The proposal requires consideration pursuant to section 168A of the Resource Management Act 1991.

The notice of requirement includes an Assessment of Environmental Effects, including specialist reports on engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, ecology, air quality, landscape and visual effects, and noise and vibration.
